Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Kenny M — 08 Feb 2009
It's pretty obvious that Taylor Momsen is the only "actor" in this movie, but that doesn't mean the film isn't enjoyable. In fact it almost makes it more enjoyable or at the very least more interesting than the run of the mill accidental teen murder drama.
Dreamlike, which means that theres a lot of grainy slow motion shots with interesting music or sounds playing.
Really fascinating film, I'm not sure why Gus shows the same things happening again and again in his more recent films, maybe he's done it all the time and I just never noticed it until "Last Days", but it happens again in this film, which definitely has a "Last Days"-ish quality to it, though this film is a lot easier to watch and not nearly as boring.
I definitely have to think on this one a little more. It stays with you. The pacing, the acting, it's just beautiful and sublime.
It did remind me of how happy I am to not be in high school anymore.
Though I wouldn't mind Taylor Momsen dragging me to bed.
