Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Ravikiran A — 29 Mar 2009
One of my favorite movies now. Like Elephant, Van Sant uses a sort of a non-linear timeline in this movie. It's simplistic, kinda bleak, but a beautiful piece of work. THe performances are natural, the handycam effect is interesting, the screenplay brilliant.
. And the best part about Van Sant's movies is that he doesn't waste his time moralizing.. whether the actions or the characters. Distancing himself from the characters is what makes for some pretty powerful stuff, I'd say.
