Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Jonny B — 25 May 2011
A modest juvenile take on 'Crime and Punishment' and a celestial work of art. Christopher Doyle captures Portland so beautifully and highly original (no other cinematographer would be so daring with filters and skateboarding) its like a narcotic.
Two Elliott Smith songs show up in this movie with such heartbreakingly gorgeous scenes. Like 'Elephant' this is another film so good it deserves to be mentioned as one of the greatest art-house movies ever made by an American.
