I saw this simply to see a person I know who was in the film, then found myself mesmerized. This is a rare feat - a tone poem spread effectively short of 90 minutes...where Van Sant's prior films flailed due to lack of structure, it seems Paranoid Park benefits as an adaptation of another's work.
Skillful, haunting.
