Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Tim W — 09 Nov 2008
One of Van Sant's worst yet, a perfect example of the "Fake American Art Film". Sullen, loutish, yet angelically photogenic teens trying as hard as they can "not to act" (an impossibility in this culture, at this juncture).
Vague, moorless (and moral-less) story where things "just happen". Sigh. Want to see a real film about adolescents? Watch any of Shunji Iwai's movies.
