Review of Paradise Now (2005) by Mike R — 10 Dec 2007
Solid dramatic portrayal of the Palestinian side of the conflict in the Levant (Palestine/Israel); the young men's decision to be suicide bombers is plausible and empathetic, as well as contested--moments of heated discussion between them and a modernized humanist girl (voice of the writer/director?) summarize different Palestinian responses to the injustice of Israel's occupation.
The movie's main/only weakness is that even at 90 minutes it drags--it could have been a very compelling short film.
In Arabic w/subtitles.
