Review of Paradise Now (2005) by Flora L — 20 Sep 2008
I thought this one would be terrfyingly emotional and sad, but the Director did not overdo and is very clever in weaving humanistic elements into the 2 characters. Khaled and Said are just the guys next door from very normal, ordinary families. I particularly like the scene when they record their last speech before the martyrdom, when Kaled suddenly remember to remind his mother to buy water filter from a certain shop.
A very realistic movie, very thought-provoking and very well-made. It is saddening to know some young people from Israel and Palestine are living in hatred and oppression and find no hope in this life.
