Review of Paradise Now (2005) by Alex C — 07 Nov 2010
Took me awhile to chew over the style; I thought I was watching a Kiarostami's film! The cinematography, the camerawork, they deliver a kind of view that doesn't explain the situation of story, but rather massaging our eyes with its subtle, spiritual look.
The story isn't any much different from other Eastern movies -which always talk about war from their perspective- but the script deploys something deeper, something personal, a thought of each characters which defines their action.
With the sophisticated cinematography and memorable performance, the story becomes more compherensive and recognizable to the audience, save for the mainstream one. I can't think of anything less than admiring such wonderful film.
