Review of Paprika (2006) by Lee B — 29 Oct 2008
This reminds me constantly of the work of the David Lynch and early David Cronenberg. If you like Mulholland Drive and Videodrome, this is the movie for you. Its visually stunning, and has moments of stunning visual and narrative cohesiveness.
Really a movie that finds a story best suited for animation, and then completely dedicates itself to that purpose. It's like a dream in that it has extremely dark elements to it (so its not for kids) which are coated in just enough sugar.
