Review of Paprika (2006) by Mei L — 28 Aug 2010
3 - Extremely surreal animated thriller, starts off well with an intriguing premise which sees a machine that can tap into dreams seemingly stolen by a senseless maniac, but eventually descends into a more familiar fantasy fare - complete with giant figures looming above cities and the real villain intent on world domination.
By this time it may have lost the interest of some viewers. Satoshi Kon's visual and aural treatment is splendid as ever - however the disjointed narrative style may not be for everyone.
