Review of Paprika (2006) by Adam M — 09 Oct 2008
Satoshi Kon's movies are always worth seeing, but I have one big hesitation about recommending this one: it is a bit too much like what people expect an anime movie to be. If you had a checklist of "Japanese Animated Movie Stuff", you'd be busy ticking boxes during the last third of the film.
It's a well made and visually stunning film, but I strongly recommend seeing "Perfect Blue" or, better still, "Millennium Actress" first.
