Review of Paprika (2006) by Kalysta F — 08 Jun 2011
An absolutely incredible movie-- although not as coherent as Millenium Actress or Tokyo Godfathers, it feels like the climax of Satoshi Kon's career. I've watched this at least ten times, and have never ceased to be amazed.
It's dazzling, it's heartfelt, it's an adventure that never gets old. Satoshi Kon's greatest strength in this piece stems from his conviction that he owes his viewers nothing. Ultimately, it's worth seeing not because of the strength of the plot, but of the strength of the ideas within.
I can't reccomend this picture enough.
