It was a decent movie that had a lot of ties to the book but I don't think that they had the theme of life and death. All of the Walt Whitman poems and the allusions to her potential suicide are not in the movie whatsoever. They just say she's gone and will be found. I think it could of registered a whole lot more if they talked about how not even Margo's friends, like Laci, knew who she was really with the poetry and albums and how it is possible that someone who seemed to have it all could have been depressed and alone and have that line about those strings being cut line that they left in the movie for some reason even though it never comes up again or really had a purpose. They could have just left the finding of the body when they were young out and it would've made more sense.

Of course I'm 23 years old and it is a movie that definitely resonates better with 13 year olds. Idk if anything I would give it a rental on Netflix at best because it does have its funny moments andpoints but it just doesn't come across as really that good.
