Review of Paper Towns (2015) by David C — 30 Sep 2015
One of the most faithful book adaptations I have ever seen. The cast is amazing, it's fun in all the right places, and it feels like an adventure from start to finish. its funny, every review from critics I seen has been glowing. and then at the end of the review they say something like "well these teenagers aren't realistic it's an idealized or heightened sense of reality" and then rated a 6 out of 10 or 7 out of 10 after saying how much they enjoyed it. the only criticism I can really find is that the second half is better than the first half. which is completely true of the book as well. the book has the advantage of the second half putting the first half into a different perspective, I guess with a movie that kind of thing doesn't work as well.
Paper Towns won't be the blockbuster that the Fault in Our Stars was. But don't let that stop you from going and seeing it. And ignore the reviewers scores and listen to what they actually say about the film.
