Review of Paper Heart (2009) by Joe W — 12 Mar 2010
I am still not sure what to make of this movie. Personally, I don't think this movie really pulled off the quasi-documentary style that they were going for. In the end, it just made the main storyline, the relationship between Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera seem disjointed and somewhat shallow. I just could not get into this movie at all.
Although, I will admit that this movie has its moments. I especially liked the cardboard cutout cut-scenes. I thought this bits were creative and well-done. And many of them were pretty funny. Outside of these though, the movie falls some what flat, but I can appreciate what director Nicholas Jasenovec was attempting.
