Not what I was expecting. Apparently in the U.S. the fact that this was a spanish film was downplayed. I had no idea going into it so I started off in the wrong frame of mind. Wasn't really wanting to read subtitles.
DVD offers no english dub either for the laziest of watchers. Good writing I guess but the main character makes some stupid choices. A lot more bloody at times than you would expect from a fantasy film that I thought was supposed to be aimed at younger movie goers.
Must be more of a cult film since so many have given rave reviews while others not as much. Those that like it must have been a lot more familiar w/ the story.
