"Pan's Labyrinth" is a lush, gorgeously shot, richly detailed adult fairy tale positively brimming with allegorical subtext. There are wonderful performances from the entire cast, but Doug Jones really owns this thing.
His performances as The Faun and The Pale Man (With the assistance of an incredible crew of visual effects artists) are two of the most memorable and beautifully terrifying creatures ever seen on film.
This is the kind of movie you can watch over and over again, continually discovering additional meanings and new perspectives. A bona fide masterpiece from one of the great current visionary auteurs of cinema.
