Peerlessly enchanting. Every aspect of this genre-blending gothic horror folk tale is executed superbly. Fantastic creatures and otherworldly hope contrast impactfully against the ugliness of tyranny and mortality.
Gorgeously filmed, lush in its color scheme and setting, and absolutely unforgettable. Unarguably Del Toro's best work to date.
