Review of Panic Room (2002) by Quinn B — 30 May 2011
Panic Room in my mind one of David Fincher's best film. I know I know, how can this be atop classic's such as Seven, Zodiac and The Social Network? Well, I think the suspense and thrilling moments in this movie were unlike any other. There were parts where I was on the edge of my seat yelling RUN! Now I know this is definitely not the most creative film ever made. But it sure is entertaining. The acting of course was tremendous. Forest Whitaker was my personal favourite. He played his character so well. Jodie Foster also gave in a solid performance, and Jared Leto was another great addition to the movie.
Panic Room is about a newly divorced mother, who moves into a huge house with her daughter. In this house there is a small room called the Panic Room. If anything goes wrong, such as a break in. All they have to do is run inside there and press a button to close the door. No one can get in, and no one can get out unless someone presses the button to open the door. Now the evening they arrive, there of course is a break in. The movie is all about her and her daughter surviving well these 3 men are trying to get inside of the Panic Room.
Now because of this, the movie is full of thrills. There was this one slow motion part when Jodie Foster runs to get her cell phone. I literally was silent, with my eyes glued to the screen for the whole scene.
Now I was a little skeptical going into this, since this was told not to be up to Fincher's standard. But I completely agree with everyone on this! To me this defines David Fincher. A director that directs fantastic movies, with great acting, and a great ending.
To me this movie has very little flaws. This in my opinion is the whole casts best movie. Definitely one of the best ever made, and the best break in film ever.
Although I know I may get some criticism for this, My rating for Panic Room is.
100%.
