Review of Panic Room (2002) by Andrea G — 27 Feb 2010
Panic Room is an entertaining movie, very thriller-ey...with moments that make you nervous but certain things made the movie not very credible. For instance, when Jodie Foster and her daughter get a chance to call the police, the 911 operator said "please hold" which just does not happen! The ex husband of Jodie Foster was easier to reach than the police! Also, for some reason the panic room was only stocked with sugar free mints! It just seems unlikely for the panic room to have health/sugar conscious snacks when people might need the sugar if they will be hiding in there for who knows how long.
One of the "bad guys" played by Dwight Yoakam is particularly annoying in the film, wanting so desperately to kill someone which was very irritating. No one needed to be killed/hurt but this character tried very hard to find an excuse for it.
I was somewhat satisfied with the ending because it didn't end badly...but it also was very anti-climactic and it seemed like the characters attained amnesia of the horrific event that they experienced.
Anyway, I must say that this is the only movie I like Kristen Stewart in and she was much younger at the time when Panic Room was made. It makes me wonder...what happened to make her suck at acting nowadays.
