Review of Panic Room (2002) by Bryan K — 11 Jul 2010
It's not as engaging as some of David Fincher's other films, but I don't see this as him slumming. I see this as him elevating this material. Just because it isn't Fight Club doesn't mean we should damn it. It's a pretty effective little thriller and there's a great visual style to it as you'd expect from Fincher. Plus you get some good performances out of it from people like Jodie Foster and Forest Whittaker.
It's a cliche at this point, but B-level Fincher like Panic Room and The Game is still better than most people's A-level.
