Review of Panic Room (2002) by Dave L — 31 Jan 2012
This is an example about why I love David Fincher so much as a director. He took what could have been an average thriller that would have been a sort of adult "home alone" and turned it into a taut, cat and mouse thriller.
The filmmaking skills here are incredible. He seemlessly cuts between real-life shots and CGI while the camera is constantly moving, sometimes between floors. The burglars who enter the home are interesting characters in their own right.
Their motives and what they are in the house for is shielded from the audience for awhile. Say what one will, Jodie Foster is really good here. Also featuring a young Kristen Stewart.
