Review of Panic in the Streets (1950) by Damien B — 06 Jun 2009
Solid Elia Kazan-directed noir about a potential plague outbreak in New Orleans. Most notable for Richard Widmark's cantankerous doctor hero and Jack Palance's menacing villain, with that face that seems carven out of volcanic rock.
Bookended by two well-shot pursuit sequences, especially the impressive single-shot scene in the railyard near the start. Not really great, but pretty darned good.
