Review of Pandorum (2009) by Chipk. — 27 Sep 2009
I cannot allow myself to believe that reviewers such as the New York Times has its fingers on the pulse of the moviegoer if they considered "9" to be better than Pandorum, but that's besides the point.
Pandorum is one of the best psycho-horror movies I've seen in a long time. The feelings of intense claustrophobia combined with the gothic corridors of the metallurgic spacecraft set the stage perfectly for horror.
Ben Foster is perfect and even Dennis Quaid looks like he knows what he's doing. The only complaints I can understand is how derivative certain aspects are (such as its monsters) to which I can only say you're not seeing the forest for the trees.
At least in this film I can sense that "thrill of the hunt" the monsters seem to have which in most other movies comes off cheesy; here I actually can feel some adrenaline pumping.
