Review of Pandorum (2009) by Enrica C — 26 Dec 2011
While nowhere near as good as the films its ripping off, Pandorum does for the most part evoke a fear, a familiar one yes but a tension nonetheless. Strong performances help the narrative to unfold extremely well and original mise-en scene make every second of low key lit screen time visually striking. An all too familiar plot developer is used to chug the story along and while this drags the film down to the level of a slightly above average endeavour, it also adds an element of edge of you're seat fun to the picture. However this leaves the film worse off. Yet a fan of sci-fi who is looking for a movie that takes its personal universe seriously, this is the one for you.
QUICK FIRE SENTENCE REVIEW = It's like, The Descent, in space; and not as good.
