Review of Pandorum (2009) by Simon D — 26 May 2012
I think, that as far as sci-fi films go, this is not a bad one. It's not a good one either. The problem I have is that most of the best sci-fis don't just take place on the ship but in space with spaceships fighting each other, and on planets, it just takes a bit of imagination.
George Lucas obviously had the winning formula and the budget where others haven't. This film takes place solely on the spaceship and all the actors only speak in whispers, grunts, and growls. This, combined with the spaceship noises and the constant non-music with the fact that most of the film is shot in darkness, it makes this film fairly hard to follow.
Other sci-fis have succeeded because people can see and hear what's going on.
