Review of Pandora's Box (2008) by Luisfelipe Z — 24 May 2009
The 1929 film Pandora's Box was a milestone in the evolution of W.G. Pabst's German Expressionism but its real power was in the performance of Louise Brooks. Rarely has a role and a performer been as well matched and Brooks' powerful on screen charisma has rarely been equaled since.
She transforms the tawdry tale of obsession and destructive desire into something sublime.
