Review of Pan (2015) by James W — 13 Oct 2015
Neverland a made for SyFy mini series is surprisingly a far superior prequel. The Indians were actually played by Indians. James Hook started out as Peter's friend but slowly turned bad. While Peter at least met Tinkerbell in it.
Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy) steals the show as a...heroic James Hook who has a Han Solo and Leia wannabe relationship with Tiger Lilly (Rooney Mara). Hugh Jackman though still hasn't made a good movie as a villain since the Prestige. He overacts and wears a bad wig that looks worse than his hair in Chappie.
While his slaves singing songs from the 90's doesn't work since they are from the 1920's and even older; it is Neverland. Mara is so miscast I forgot she was even nominated once. Her wardrobes are even worse than Natalie Portman's in Phantom Menace as well.
I can't say I was impressed by any of the visuals or CGI either. As a fan of Fantasy I had high hopes for Pan. Unfortunately the film is a forgettable dud.
