It wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Sure, the storyline was ridiculous, but it wasn't awful. You can tell that the ending was a setup for a sequel. Peter Pan and Hook end as friends, so you can tell the next movie was supposed to explain how they became enemies, right? Well, since it flopped, that most certainly won't happen.
