Joe Wright's fantasy epic is pretty dopey in the fact that it relies so much on referencing where this story is going to go. Saying Jackman chews the scenery as Blackbeard would be a vast understatement.
It is pretty to look at but so incredibly hollow and dull. How can a movie about a flying child become those two traits? It is actually perplexing to watch how much this thing fails to have any spark in it whatsoever.
