Review of Pan (2015) by Bryanbezter — 16 May 2020
It is a brilliant alternate adaptation of Peter Pan, it has wonderful story and interesting references. The visual effects are outstanding, Neverland is a true magical beauty. The fairies, crocodile, and mermaids are gorgeous. The properties, costumes, music, and production design are amazing. Levi Miller as Peter Pan, Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, and Garrett Hedlund as James Hook are perfect. The actions scenes are well-done. The narrative sequence underwater and on an old tree are magnificent.
The giant birds animation needs improvement. Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily actually did good job, but the casting choice is unfortunate, because it should have been a native American.
Debatable holes:
1) How could Peter be strong enough to lift Cook or Tiger Lily?
2) Blackbeard's men missed their targets most of the time.
3) How could the ships fly?
4) Blackbeard's crew barely did anything during the final battle scene. They had guns but did not use them. They outnumbered Peter and friends but could not even catch or defeat Tiger Lily.
5) The crocodile's bite on Peter should be fatal.
