Review of Palindromes (2005) by Kevin D — 09 Sep 2007
Solondz' misanthropic rage is the stuff of legend. Who else invites you to look upon the whole cast of humanity so hatefully? I need him to make another movie. I need another movie from Todd Solondz so that I can feel rich living contempt for the world freshly again, the hatred I felt for humanity when I was a little boy in sunday school.
Ahem. uh. Actually this is disappointing, in an esthetic sense. I felt that Solondz wasn't putting forth much effort, and that he levelled hatred mostly at very familiar, safe targets. The scene with the deformed Christian kids made me feel like David Caruso in Jade, but this is pretty much pornography for the misanthropic.
