Review of Painted Skin: The Resurrection (2012) by Ws W — 11 Feb 2013
This is one of the better horror films that I have seen in ages. By horror I do not mean scary, but I refer to the human condition in situations where one would find incredible and yes, horrifying. The romance in the plot enhances the horror of the tale.
The visuals are slick and captivating beautiful in all its ethereal and grotesque quality. Although the enemy tribe and its visual associations with ancient Egyptians did seem alien to a Chinese mythical movie so that took some getting use to.
I did like the little light hearted comedy if the side characters.
