Review of Paint Your Wagon (1969) by Rachel M — 05 Mar 2013
I've watched this movie multiple times. It's one my families favourites. It has a wonderful cast, Lee Marvin is funny, witty and completely charming as the grizzled mountain man/miner.
Clint Eastwood is riveting as both a quiet mannered farmer who transforms into a gold mining gambler.
The singing is just part of the plot, it rolls along in the movie, avoiding a lot of the cheesier cliched type musicals.
There are so many wonderful lines in this movie, it is a timeless classic that celebrates the gold mining era in California, the good and the bad.
I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys westerns, classic movies and comedy.
