Review of Painless (2012) by Martin C — 25 Oct 2013
Another "horror" film from Spain that shows that there can be so much more than an unstoppable killing machine or a malevolent spirit that only acts when being filmed. Here we get two compelling stories separated be time, that are linked via the darkest deeds committed at the time of the Spanish Civil War.
With few actual scares the horror here comes from the inhumanity of man towards man, and is certainly not for the squeamish. Good but not great the interesting concept that under pins the film is never really developed enough, and this lack of development is a disappointment.
