Review of Pain & Gain (2013) by Stuart K — 27 Mar 2014
Daniel- "Victor Kershaw is a criminal prick"!
Michael Bay is one of those directors who is the best at misfiring movies. He can blow people's minds with his exhilarating action, but loses his steam when he puts his action over the top to much, loses the thoughtfulness throughout, and sometimes leave the cast in the muddled script, which is rather lazy. So, Pain And Gain starts off well, but gets a little over the top at some points. Mark Wahlberg, plays a excellent performance as Daniel Lugo, with him pulling Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie along with him as his henchman. Based on a true story. Michael Bay somehow gets gruesome laughs in this misfire of a movie, but they are good. The action is the most spectacular of its scenes, but it manages throughout. Michael Bay always could of been better, but he finally steps up in Pain and Gain. So this 49% movie, could of been 60%.
