Review of Pain & Gain (2013) by Abe F — 08 Jul 2014
No matter the consensus around Michael Bay, it can't be dismissed that he has a keen eye for visuals and can construct one hell of an action scene.
In my opinion, Pain & Gain is Bay's best movie to date.
Kinetic, coherent, gorgeous and anchored by some fantastic performances; particularly Dwayne Johnson.
The tone of this film however, is incredibly unsettling - as in: 'let's grill these fingerprints off on a BBQ and play it for laughs' unsettling.
I'm still not sure how I feel about that..
