Review of Pain & Gain (2013) by Spencer S — 24 Dec 2013
An incredible step up for director Michael Bay after his past three so-and-so Transformer films. The cast is solid, the movie builds up plenty of suspense, and the movie never gets boring. This film always adds a new scenario to the table and it never stalls any of the time. Dwyane Johnson has the best performance hands down, but that's not to say that Marky Mark doesn't do a great job either.
However, don't listen to the description of this movie. It has Pain and Gain labelled as an action comedy flick. While this movie does have many comedic moments, it's far too dark and violent in the second half of the film to call it a comedy.
