Review of Paid in Full (2002) by Aron S — 14 Mar 2015
First half of film is typical blinged out "throw money in the air" gangster fetishization of cash. However, the second half is an incredibly realistic and moving depiction of the downside to thug-life.
Wood Harris in particular is brilliant. His portrayal of the cautious and nuanced "Ace" should have garnered nominations for best actor (his role in this film certainly led to his landing the role as Barksdale-top gangster- in "The Wire").
Low budget is distracting in the first half, but if you pay attention to the acting and you like mafia or hip-hop movies you won't be disappointed.
