Review of Paid in Full (2002) by Jay L — 25 Nov 2010
Paid In Full is a seriously hard-hitting and cold-blooded urban crime drama that packs mad heat. It's an intense and edgy story of the American dream and the endless possibilities, good and bad, that come with it. A hypnotizing mix of money, drugs, violence, deception, humor, inner-city life and culture, an urban grittiness. Paid In Full packs a serious punch, one of the better big city crime dramas out there. Charles Stone lll (Drumline) directs and collaborates with Roc-A-Fella CEO and producer Damon Dash to bring this hard-edged and violent film to life.
With some show stealing performances by Wood Harris, who breaths the life into this film and Mekhi Phifer who co-stars is great as well. Camron co-stars and gives a chilling but awfully acted performance.
A great fictionalized account of three street hustlers slangin cocaine, and living the good life. Until the bottom falls out from that life leading to violent spiral and freefall into deception, misery, and violence.
