Review of Page One: Inside the New York Times (2011) by Jason A — 23 Jul 2011
A film with huge relevance in todays rapidly changing world I highly recommend everyone see this small market film quickly as its time in the theater will probably be limited. It reminded me of The Social Network as it captures a "quick" look at our rapidly changing times and the impact it's having on our society, culture, values, and beliefs.
I think this film is such a great commentary on just how fast things are changing in the world. It makes you question and wonder so many things. I love journalism, politics, economics, business, media, technology, research, etc.
and this movie encompasses so many of those fields. When was the last time you read a printed newspaper? A blog? A news website? The New York Times? Your local paper? Should newspaper websites charge you a fee? Are blogs credible, respected journalism? So many questions I thought about after seeing this movie.
While I don't read the printed Times much anymore, (I do love the Sunday edition) I do check the NY Times website daily and I encourage people to do so whether you support them or not. The news is spread so quickly now via facebook, twitter, text alerts, etc.
and I think it is so important to read a variety of sources to get a balanced view with so much information widely available and accessible. Go see this film, you won't regret it.
