Review of Page One: Inside the New York Times (2011) by Daniel K — 03 Jan 2012
This documentary takes a look at the changing world of newspapers and mainstream media. Among other things, we learn that those newspaper folks that cling to the romantic notion that newspapers will always have a place in the media marketplace, will probably be swept away in the flood of citizens obtaining their news from sources different than the newspaper.
Through the sometimes arrogant lens of the N.Y. Times, we learn that no media institutions are immune from the changing media marketplace. In particular, of course, many of us obtain our news on-line.
In fact, more read news on-line than in a newspaper. Surprising to some is that there isn't always a compromise or trade-off in journalistic integrity, to the dismay many in the newspaper world.
