Review of Page Eight (2011) by Mathieu F — 24 Oct 2011
A decent political thriller in which spies are old, bureaucratic employees with doctorates from Oxbridge and use field reports and meetings in gentlemen's clubs as weapons. I liked a lot the first half of the film, with Bill Nighy playing impeccably as usual, but the second half entangles itself into a too-convulsed plot to be totally credible, something that becomes quite ridiculous when the love affair between Nighy and Weiss is brought up in a final resolution somehow reminiscent of the film with Robert Redford and Lena Olin, "Havana.
" Nonetheless, a overall well-done and interesting film.
