Review of Pagan Love Song (1950) by Michael T — 04 Jan 2005
Howard Keel does his best under the weight of mediocre to crummy songs and a truly dumb and boring story. Esther Williams swims her little heart out (with Keel in one scene). I found it interesting to see a very young Rita Moreno (she's in this, she looks like she was only 16 or 18 when she made this -- a young'en at the time).
I saw it because Mr Keel had just passed away and since I had always adored him I wanted to see all the movies I hadn't seen him in before. This was one of them. It was nice to see him, but it really wasn't a great movie.
Unless you love Howard Keel or Esther Williams, or are on a mission to see every movie/musical on the face of the earth without regard to quality, DON'T SEE THIS BORE OF A MOVIE!!!
