I'm sure this film redeemed itself by the end. After all, it was a winner at Cannes. But after watching the first 30 minutes, in which the father repeatedly beat the child, a snake was killed and the boy kept kicking a sheep he was milking, I just couldn't get past the abuse and had to shut it off.
Maybe I can give it a try another day.
