Review of Paddington (2014) by Ethan T — 21 Mar 2015

I'll start my review off by saying that yes like the critics have said Paddington is a really good movie but is it 98 percent good. not really no but it surprisingly isin't great it's just really cute.

I think I read one of the books when I was a child but I can't be sure yet. so let's start with the stuff I liked about this movie. First of all thank god they got rid of Colin Farrell as the voice of Paddington because ben winshaw the voice they got to replace him does a great job voicing the character of Paddington.

I can really see no other person doing the voice of this character if they did then it would probably be mediocre. I really also liked the supporting cast to this movie too,espically the character of the dad.

At first I thought the dad character would be a strict and lame dad but then I found out his backstory and then it all changed. The kids of him and his wife really didn't do too bad(although the daughters character was at times one-dimensional but she had her moments).

Then I thought the mother did an o.k. job. she wasn't as great as the dad but she did all right for what was givin. But there are also some dumb scenes from the trailer ad advertising that happened here(like the toothbrushes, the ketchup, Paddington's name being made up by the wife all that stuff) this is a movie the parents and kids can enjoy together so I highly recommend when this comes on dvd go out and buy it.

Then there's the villain played by Nicole Kidman which at first I thought I was gonna laugh at her character because the entrance was stupid but her character has no motivations,the other characters have motivations for what they do but not her character it's just because she's evil.

Her character was just dumb and dull. but that's pretty much it I really liked this movie. I feel it's a bit overrated but I liked the movies message of family should stick together and there wasn't really many jokes in this besides the first two halves while the last act focuses on the family which I liked(while there is this drinking scene with the grandma and a guard that I liked but other then that that's it.

I think this is a definite check out for families and don't put this one as background noise. I hope they don't make a sequel because this movie is as good as it is.
