Why was there a villain in my Paddington movie? All the stuff with the family and the search for the explorer was so strong, but the villainous taxidermist stuff just sucked me right out of it. This film have been so much stronger without it.
The Browns had a wonderful family dynamic, the interactions between them and Paddington was on par with the book and the cartoon series. But the villain subplot just felt forced and contrived and ruined my enjoyment of the final third of the movie.
Hell I groaned the moment she appeared. And its a real shame because there is a good, intelligent movie in here, it just got a little spoiled with an unnecessary plot element.
