This movie rakes the formula of the first and builds on it. With everything your inner twelve year-old will love including giant robots with swords, giant robots with machine guns, giant robots with massive spiked rocket propelled morning star, robots fighting robots, robots fighting massive aliens, explosions, robot alien hybrids, and lots of destruction.

The Kaiju were a bit less distinct than the first but that flaw was quickly forgiven due to an interesting change that takes place. Overall its like the first with a stronger plot and a killer sequel setup.
