Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Madeleine P — 25 Mar 2018
Fun, fun, fun! Although it seems a bit like it's "The John Boyega Movie" it still works and the Kaiju and Jaeger thing all works. Slugging it out in Tokyo is a great nod to the classic old giant rubbery monsters.
Some of the weapons are completely stupid, but if you go into a film like this looking for logic then you are in the wrong theater. Only thing bugged me was the over-the-top CGI "Stitchers".
C'mon, man. Kaiju evolve, should have had then just merge, like Voltron. That aside, I did miss Hannibal Chau and would love to see Ron Perlman make a return to the franchise as his character is a great one (which I felt nearly stole, and sold off parts of, the show in the original flick.
) Hope to see more of these films coming along.
