Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Nonameforme — 24 Mar 2018
1st Pacific Rim at least respect Sir Issac Newton and law of physic. All move are 'heavy' and 'realistic' and 'believable' thus result in 'immersion'. Every punch is packed with weight with equal reaction. When the punch hit, you can see the reaction on both jaeger and kaiju.
Uprising? Everything defy physic so much that it break all the immersion. This time jaeger move around like a sheet of paper blow by tornado wind. Action happen so fast that they should create sonic boom and destroy everything around it. Watching this movie is like watching physic(cally) torture movie. Another insult to the injury is the jaeger designs. In 1st movie, each machines come with its own designs that define each personality and advantage & disadvantage. Now in Uprising, all machines look like they came out of China's mass production line.
